Project Three: Progress

These are a few images I've been working on. Right now these images are not conveying what's going on in my head with how I'm perceiving the 'Cyclical Nature of Things,' for myself. Sometimes with certain mediums I almost feel like I can portray the complexities of how I'm feeling better in writing. I might journal a bit before editing further, so that I might have more clarity for what I want to portray. But, these are where my images are at thus far!

I'm still heavily wanting to relate this concept to 'the body' and 'being,' so have chosen images of my own body and nature. I am trying to convey the comparative relationships/cycles of existing, through these two concepts, enabling a conversation between the two.

I think too, that I might be editing my images too much for my liking, so I'm struggling with knowing when to stop editing, and still seeing it as enough for this project. I've included raw images of the ones that I honestly love and don't really want to touch.

  1. I see what you're saying about not wanting to over edit. Your original photos are beautiful and it's tough to think of what might improve them while keeping true to them. That being said, I think you've been doing some good work with edits.

  2. Don't be afraid to push the limits!! Luckily everything can easily be undone since it is digital, I think you've got some really strong images with great potential. I love the work you've produced already and am excited to see what you may add to create extra layers!!

  3. I love the textures and colors within the first and third image. I think they are both really intriguing and fit well within your concept. Overall, I'm really drawn to the third one with its overall color tone and I think the composition with the torso/upper leg and the more open hand is really intriguing. I think it is also one of the images where your body and nature really become one and are more connected through the similar colors. I look forward to seeing what you do next!

  4. I love this concept, and I think that your images look really beautiful as they are, and how you've edited them now. My favorite is the first image, because it accentuates more about form and attention to texture. I'm drawn to every image you have here, though, and I'm so excited to see where you move forward with it; I could maybe suggest using a color palette and pushing those colors and draw in more attention to detail.

  5. I really love the direction you're taking this. Over-editing is something I'm worried about with my work as well right now, it's hard to tell what's too much. It might be helpful to make multiple versions of one image to try out different editing techniques without destroying your first picture. I'm in love with your concept and I'm so excited to see where you go with this!!! - Calvin
